a.k.a Mizery the Queen of Crunk
The rap game in Columbus Ohio has some of the most influential artists in the country. One of Columbus finest female MC’s is Barb Wire the Arsonist a.k.a. Mizery the Queen of Crunk. Now at the age of 31 with two children by her side she has been in the rap game for over 15 years. “This has been a long hard process…” Barb Wire went on to explain during a short portion of the interview she went onto state the fact that she truly began her youthful rap interest when she was in a group with her stepsister and cousin called the After Shock in the mid 90’s. After Shock had their first performance at East High School in Columbus Ohio. They brought the house down. She began recording her music in Queens New York at the age of 13 and this is when she began her passion and love for music that was inside of her. Barb’s father was her biggest creative influence. Barb Wire the went on to say, “as a child my father had always listened to a wide vast of music around me.” (Barb) Her father listened to music from Earth Wind and Fire to A Tribe Called Quest
Mizery “Tha Reel Queen of Crunk” Barb Wire Da Arsonist
A Story the two Personas:
Her name Mizery came from her father. Her original rap name was Misdemeanor however, when they were in New York trying to get her music copy-written they discovered that the name Misdemeanor was already taken by none other than “Missy Misdemeanor Elliott”. She left New York with no name and then her father gave her the name Mizery. She was the one who gave herself the name “Barb Wire Da Arsonist” she feels it’s a more commercial name and it’s more globally marketable. The difference between the two personas is Mizery is more of a hip-hop underground ad for the streets when she was younger. Mizery’s genre of music is crunk/hardcore gangster rap. Barb Wire the Arsonist is more of a softer side still hardcore but lady like. Barb Wire according to Barb “is a firecracker, sexy at the same time and also more appealing to the commercial aspect of things.” (Barb)
The future looks bright for Ms. Mizery the Queen of Crunk a.k.a Barb Wire the Arsonist this hard-hitting artist is soon to be burning up the music charts worldwide.
